We’re delighted to offer for sale one of the rarest of the trio of Mini Cooper S models – the 970, 1071 and 1275 - the 970S.
Manufactured on the 7th of December 1964, this right-hand drive, home market example is essentially a homologation special for participation in the 'up to 1000cc' class of international motorsport.
A British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate with the car confirms that this Mk1 sports-saloon was despatched from the factory 14th December to BMC Dealers Voss Motors Limited of Liverpool. It was first registered on the 21st July 1965.
LMA326C is still to ex-factory, road car specification with servo-assisted disc brakes, single petrol tank and the interior still standard apart from benefitting from the twin reclining seat option. This is in contrast to so many 970S Minis, which were consumed by race and rally driving owners and evolved into 1293cc or even larger capacity hybrids of one kind and another.
Finished in its original Tartan Red with Black roof exterior and a stunning Red and Gold/Grey interior trim, this particular example was subject to a Concours restoration and as such is as it left the factory with every period feature correct.
Supplied with the original brochure, heritage certificate and invoices this British Motor Industry icon is not to be cast over lightly. For more information or to arrange a viewing please contact our sales team.
