Record Details

This is a rare opportunity to buy a near complete DB5 restoration project. The car comes complete with a full body re-spray, recent gearbox, rebuilt engine, new suspension, brakes and interior. Final details will of course be the decision of the new owner. Colour & trim can be altered to suit, as can mechanical specification. The final price will be dependent on the required specification.

An incredible detailed photographic record has been maintained over the last 27 years, and the mileage is documented at 38,968

The following is a detailed list of work undertaken by The Aston Workshop so far:

STAGE ONE - ENGINE & GEARBOX
Totally stripped by Aston Workshop. Sent to Exiss for rebuild
Cylinder block in good condition. Faced and fitted with new liners bored out to +20. Forged Venolia pistons fitted. Crankshaft scored - replacement fitted. Cylinder head faced. Valves, guides and seats replaced with components compatible with unleaded petrol.
Carburettors overhauled
Oil pump (renewed), water pump (reconditioned), distributor & leads (renewed).
Run-in on dynamometer. Head re-torqued. Ignition optimised for leaded petrol - retard for unleaded.
Gearbox - rebuilt by Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd and has since covered less than 2000 miles. New clutch fitted at the same time.

STAGE TWO - CHASSIS
Fully stripped with interior, doors, bonnet and boot removed. Engine bay valances replaced
Inner sills replaced
New pedal mounting brackets & jacking tubes fitted
Floor replaced
Electrical harness conduit assembly replaced
Radius arm mountings replaced
Rear bumper mounting brackets, lower superleggera tubes and rear cross member replaced. Outer boot finishing plates replaced

STAGE THREE - BODY
All paint removed
New front valance, sills, rear valance
Door frames rebuilt. New skins & door locks fitted All faults to aluminium panels removed and rectified. All panels correctly gapped.

STAGE FOUR - PAINT
Prepared & painted by by Spray-Tec
Restored bodyshell acid-washed to remove all oxidisation, oven dried and etch primed.
Epoxy high-build primer
Two pack lacquer in Jaguar Solent Blue Metallic (JFJ 715)
Bonnet, boot and engine bay in black New headlining fitted

STAGE FIVE - SUSPENSION, STEERING & BRAKES
Front and rear suspension removed and stripped for inspection
Major castings sandblasted and powder coated, stub axles and hubs refurbished. All bearings,
bushes and bolts etc replaced
Original springs checked, dampers overhauled and refitted
Steering rack overhauled and fitted with new metalastics, gaiters and track rod ends Steering column & UJ's checked as satisfactory Rear axle sandblasted, overhauled and painted Watts Linkage bushes renewed and radius arms replaced Brake discs skimmed
