BLUE MOON
We have chosen to nickname this particular DB5 ‘Blue Moon’ because of what it represents. You will no doubt have heard the expression ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ and that is exactly what we have here. A situation and opportunity that arises so infrequently that it is likely to coincide with the appearance of a Blue Moon in the night sky. If this were a more likely occurrence, then 90% of our employees would be out of a job. We are talking about the extremely rare find of an incredibly low mileage, original, un-restored, un-molested, virtually one owner DB5. If it were possible to come across such things on an everyday basis our restoration department would be a very quiet place indeed. To most people, particularly those who wish to drive their classic Aston on an almost daily basis, a freshly rebuilt, fully restored example is the only way to go. However to some people, the collectors and the purists of this world, originality is the ultimate accolade an aged item can possess. We naturally have a foot in both camps. Original examples act as a reference to how they were built in the first place. They give us a direct window into the past. They help our restoration department replicate as near as possible the real essence of the DB5. On the other hand motoring technology has moved on a very long way in the near fifty years since the DB4 was launched (upon which the DB5 was based). Many of our clients wish to retain certain aspects of the original concept but require that other aspects are brought into the 21st Century. An original example, an example that has not been messed about during the forty odd years it has been on this planet, settles questions and arguments as to what was and what wasn’t on them when they were new, what materials were used, what finishes were obtained & where this & that was originally sited etc.
And then there is that undisputed pleasure to be gained from gazing at something that has stood the ravaging test of time, something that has survived against all the odds, something that represents a frozen moment in time. No matter how carefully a vehicle is restored, no matter how accurately and true to the original formula the restoration is executed, it is impossible to preserve or recreate that special certain something that only an ORIGINAL, UN-RESTORED example offers.
Here it is then, complete with original hand-book, workshop manual, millennium jack & tool roll… forty years after leaving what was then the sleepy village of Newport Pagnell, the lowest mileage, most original & well-preserved Aston Martin DB5 we have ever had the opportunity and pleasure to be able to offer to our valued customers.
