This car is the one of the finest DB2/4 we have ever seen. Having been subject to a complete, but sympathetic restoration, it is totally unblemished and has an authenticated history, including a comprehensive illustrated restoration file.
Used sparingly since the restoration was completed 5 years ago, it is ready to use and is one of the very best examples that are available on the market today.
The DB2/4 car introduced from late 1952 and included a number of significant changes from its predecessor model, the DB2. This included raising the roof line to accommodate 2 vestigial rear seats, the introduction of a rear hatch, (the first true “hatchback”), and to accommodate this extra weight, an increase engine size and power. In short the car was transformed into one that the family man could use too. It remains to this day an amazingly practical, beautifully constructed package, whether for club racing at one extreme or in which one can just go down to the shops at the other. It remains a brilliant long distance touring car for the age of the car. They have a surprisingly taut, rattle free ride and are surprisingly modern in general feel, especially when sympathetically upgraded with assisted brakes, electric power steering and more modern radial ply tyres.. Not surprisingly they have a loyal following and seldom change hands.
To accommodate a more trans Atlantic appeal, the DB2/4 Mk2 was introduced from late 1955. It came with additional bright-work, minor change to bonnet construction and better front seats. The chassis and engine specifications were carried over unchanged. A total of 199 were constructed of which there were 16 drop-head and 34 fixed head coupes and 145 saloons made.
This Aston comes with a full pictorial and documented file.
The Restoration file discloses that its restoration was thorough. It includes a full body strip and reconstruction, full and complete mechanical overhaul. It has retained its original specification It has been re-sprayed to an exceptional standard in a most attractive and original Burgundy red, fully re-trimmed with new magnolia leather, new beige headlining, rewired and with all plated parts having been re-chromed.. It has the benefit of a brake servo and radial ply tyres. While presently retaining its original specification, it can be offered with the benefit of a number of sympathetic upgrades, including power assisted steering and upgraded suspension. LHD conversion can be offered should the new owner desire this. Engine enhancements, including fast road camshafts, twin exhaust systems and cooling system upgrades are also available.
With all the appearance of being brand new, this wonderful DB2/4 comes with a full health check report, has no defects, and is ready to be used immediately.
