"We have an excellent DB4 SII coupe for sale. In Carribean Pearl with a blue interior, manual and RHD, though conversion to LHD is always an option.
This Aston was we believe, partially restored to a good standard some 10 to 15 years ago, during which it is thought it received major structural repairs, a complete retrim and an engine rebuild. The car was sprayed in Carribean Pearl which perfectly complements the lithe and beautiful styling of the car. There is more recent history of ongoing maintenance and repairs. The history includes a copy of every registration book, a complete history of all the owners and MoT certificates dating back to 2003. It comes with a certified British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and copy of its original build sheet and a contemporary car brochure. The car comes with matching numbers for chassis and engine and considerable evidence of meticulous maintenance and repair over the years.
The car has the benefit of a recent total and comprehensive suspension rebuild , including all bushes, dampers and rear radius arms, rear axle and cylinder head overhaul and other general expenditure, including parts this year. Oil pressure is very good and fully in line with that expected of an engine in excellent condition. The car can be used with unleaded fuel with confidence. A full Health check report has been completed, which can be supplied to the purchaser.
Its recent history includes a number of major Continental tours to its credit, during which the car has demonstrated complete reliability and it has proven to be an excellent touring car . A really nice, tidy and straight car it can be used with confidence at once but could also benefit from a number of minor cosmetic improvements that would further enhance an already very good example. Really good early series DB4 s are becoming hard to find and an early inspection is highly recommended. A car to use and enjoy.
While RHD at present, the car can be readily changed to LHD if desired. An additional range of upgrades can be offered, including performance improvements, fast road suspension, PAS steering, brakes, cooling upgrades, air conditioning and In-car Entertainment systems."
The DB4 was shown to the public first at the Paris Motor Show in October 1958 and received a rapturous reception. Styled by Touring of Italy, and with a completely new platform chassis and engine, it provided an Aston Martin with a step change in style, performance and comfort. Even now it is still one of the most beautiful cars of all time and has heavily influenced every Aston Martin model that has followed to this day. A 2 plus 2, it was one of the fastest cars that had ever been tested when first produced in 1958/9. The DB4 went through five separate series during its life, with many detail improvements, the vast majority of which were subsequently retrofitted to earlier cars. This second series car retains the perfect proportions of the first series with its cathedral style rear lights.
The all alloy 3.7 litre engine was capable of developing approximately 260 bhp and endowed the DB4 with a top speed of 140mph with 0 -60 mph coming up in around 8 secs and 0-100 mph in 21 secs. It introduced a totally new all wishbone front suspension with a rear axle located by twin trailing arms and Watts linkage for location. 4 wheel disc brakes were offered for the first time, thus making a true GT with high performance, road holding and braking to match.
