Every month we will be speaking to one of the team at the Aston Workshop to give you an insight into the lives of the people who work with your cars. This month we speak to Mick Durrant, Engine Technician at Aston Workshop.

Q1. What is your job title?

Engine technician. I have worked for Aston Martin since 1962 in my hometown of Newport Pagnall in Buckinghamshire. I started in the service department and then moved on to the production of engines. There are more than 400 V8 engines with my personal plate on them.

Q2. Where did you work before Aston Workshop?
In 1993 I set up an Aston Martin agency in Paris called Auto Performance Paris.

Q3. How many years did you work there?
I was only supposed to stay in Paris for 9 months but ended up working there for 10 years.

Q4. What is the best part of your job?
I have worked with Aston Martins all of my life, I am Aston Martin all the way through. I love the Aston Martin environment and seeing the end product of my work, and I enjoy working with the team of engineers we have here.

Q5. What car do you drive?
I don't have a car. I had a Nissan back in Newport Pagnall but I haven't needed one since I moved up North. I can test drive the Aston Martins from the workshop and if I need to drive to visit my daughter I take my wife's car.

Q6. What is your favourite car?
Aston Martin V8 580 X Pack

Q7.Where do you live?

Chester-le-Street, County Durham. My wife and I moved here 5 years ago, my daughter attended DurhamUniversity and the more we came to visit her, the more we liked Durham so we decided to move here. It's a lovely place to live and it's not far from the seaside which is a bonus.

Q8. What is your favourite food?
I really like fish, particularly seabass. I also enjoy Italian pasta, and you can never go wrong with a good fillet steak. I missed my Sunday roast when I first moved to Paris, but now I really miss French food and I love French red wine.

Q9. Have you ever restored a car for someone famous?
When I was in Paris I worked on famous comedian, Carlos' DB4. I also fixed the engine for the Prince of Qatar, he had a special engine that I worked on and when he moved to Marbella, he used to ship me over from Paris to work on his car. I have also worked on Rowan Atkinson's Zagato engine, Prince Charles' DB6 and Peter Sellers' DB4. I met Twiggy in the 60s and Prince Michael of Kent, President of Aston Martins, at the Milla Milias in Italy.

Q10. Which songs would be on your driving soundtrack?
I like Robbie Williams, Barry White and anything by Elton John

Q13. What do you keep in your glove compartment?
When I had a car, I kept very little in my glove compartment, maybe a road map, but I always kept my car immaculate. My wife on the other hand keeps everything in her car, her glove compartment and sides of her doors are full.
