Meet the team... John Gray

Every month we will be speaking to one of the team at the Aston Workshop. This month we interviewed John Gray, workshop manager at Aston Workshop.

What is your job title?
I am the workshop manager at Aston Workshop

Where did you work before Aston workshop?
In my extensive career I have always been my own boss and this is the first time I have been employed. I was self employed within a family business which was within the motor trade.

How many years did you work there?
24 years then I moved into my own workshop.

What is the best part of your job?
Seeing the results of our project cars in their finished glory and the fulfilment of our client s dream.

What car do you drive?
Anything that is available but on good days I drive my 1980 Aston Martin Lagonda.

What is your favourite car?
My Lagonda and the Aston Martin DB4GT.

Where do you live?
Felling, Gateshead
What is your favourite food?
Fish and chips well battered and wrapped in paper

Have you ever restored a car for someone famous?
All of our clients are famous .they own Aston Martins!

Which songs would be on your driving soundtrack?
6000 revs in an Aston Martin Vantage X Pack. That is the best soundtrack! I love listening to Ella Fitzgerald as well and any big band sounds.

What do you keep in your glove compartment?
An apple in case of a breakdown!
