Sending the iconic Aston Martin DB5 to the other side of the globe will soon be as easy as licking a stamp! Here at the Aston Workshop, we received a special request from the Royal Mail to photograph one of our restored DB5s for the iconic Royal Mail postage stamp.
The privilege has come as Royal Mail announced plans to release a series of stamps featuring classic British icons. And as James Bond’s car of choice the Aston Martin DB5 was the obvious answer. The Aston Workshop is the biggest restorer of Aston Martin’s in the UK so we were the first port of call for Royal Mail to contact to supply the car for this special request.
The car in question, was a 1996 model…..After a spit and polish, we spent a day with the Royal Mail photographing the legendary Aston Martin DB5, even holding a stamp shaped cut out around the car to ensure they got exactly the right shot.
We like to think of it as a meeting of two symbolic British images – the classic postage stamp and the stunning Aston Martin DB5, both tell their tale of British history. Stamps will be released in November of this year.
