We have the pleasure to offer for sale a very sound highly original Vantage specification manual DB5 . Engine and chassis numbers match her build specification. Painted in a pleasing Dubonnet Red, it comes with an original black leather interior. The mechanical condition appears to be very good and the engine comes with an excellent oil pressure and with a dry oil free exterior. The car would need minimal preparation to create an excellent driving car or would be a very good foundation for light restoration to create a truly superb example. She will be offered with the advantage of a full service and fully detailed health check. Other work specified by the purchaser can be carried out at an agreed price prior to delivery. The car comes with a detailed history, including a pictorial record of a significant restoration carried out in the late 1990s. Initially registered in April 1965, it was given a major engine rebuild by Aston Martin in 1972. At that time it was modified by Aston Martin from standard to Vantage tune with the added advantage of being fitted with the latest C type Vantage cylinder head and Weber carburettors. In 1973 she was exported to Sweden and was added to a major classic car collection. From 1973 to 1995 when acquired by the present owner, she covered a total of approximately 2500 miles and since then the present owner has added only a further 2000 miles. Starting in 1995, she was stripped to bare metal and a restoration of the body commenced. With so few miles covered since the early 1970's, the condition of the underlying structure was excellent, with no corrosion to sills and outriggers being present. Some corrosion to the external panels was evident with repairs to doors and rear body around the boot floor and door bottoms being required. All of the corrosion was removed or cut out and new metal let in. The engine was fully stripped, examined, checked and then fully rebuilt. The chassis appears to be in excellent corrosion free condition. The car was reassembled with its original attractively patinated leather interior but with new Wilton carpeting. Since the rebuild, the car has covered barely 2000 miles. Her recorded mileage is approximately 23000 which is not authenticated.
